What have We Been Doing During Lockdown?
In some ways life during lockdown has been quiet and peaceful, however Charity Buddy became a registered charity at the end of April, and has subsequently seen a noticeable increase in requests for support from all types of animal welfare organisations.
Our more recent projects have included creative art work and illustrations which are being used for advertising, marketing collateral, website designs, and even fine art work for a National Animal Rehoming Centre. Digital marketing is an area that many organisations are working hard at improving, and we’ve undertaken a number of social media and marketing reviews, and helped advise on future digital marketing strategies.
There have been lots of requests for website support from small tweaks to a full redesign, with many focusing on improving the donation pipeline and online shopping processes. We’ve also been busy helping with the management of a £100,000 Google Ads Grant for one of our animal cruelty investigation clients.
Most of our work is UK based, however we do receive requests from UK based organisations that have activities overseas, and we are happy to help them. A recruitment post created in March has successfully enabled a donkey welfare organisation to appoint a pro bono equine vet to team up with their dentist and farrier to create a ‘welfare team’ providing practical help to working donkeys in Spain.
In the last couple of weeks we’ve been asked to support the 250+ members of the new organisation, ‘Covid-19 One Voice For Animals’, group which is helping put smaller, non-profit animal welfare organisations on the map, and encouraging support from their local communities.
That’s not all… we have a number of clients that are using this quieter time to make the move to become registered charities, so we are busy helping them to create their governing documents, policies, business plans etc., and supporting them through the process.
To help us meet the increased demand from our clients we have collaborated with Furlonteer, an organisation that has been created to offer volunteering opportunities to skilled people currently on Furlough; this has been a great help!
So I guess it has been busy, but very rewarding.
Thank you as always to our Charity Buddy Volunteers, some of whom are supporting multiple charitable organisations, and continue to work in their regular jobs!
And a final note… all this has been delivered without a single penny changing hands. It’s wonderful how much can be achieved when we collaborate.
Want to join us? If you’re an animal lover, we’d love to hear from you.
